Bio

Juan Perez is a collegiate soccer coach and educator with a strong background in athlete development, performance science, and leadership. He currently serves as the Women’s Head Soccer Coach at College of the Redwoods, where he leads all aspects of the program including recruiting, training design, game-day management, and player mentorship both on and off the field.

Juan holds a Masters degree in Exercise Science from Cal Poly Humboldt and a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from CSU Chico. His academic foundation allows him to integrate sport science, injury prevention, and performance optimization into daily training environments. In addition to coaching, he is a professor at College of the Redwoods, teaching kinesiology courses.

As a player, Juan competed at the collegiate level for both CSU Chico and Cal Poly Humboldt and earned All-CCAA Second Team honors in 2022. He also played semi-professional soccer, giving him firsthand experience with high-level competition and the demands of elite performance. This playing background strongly informs his coaching philosophy and ability to connect with athletes.

Juan has also served as a men’s assistant coach, weight room supervisor, and athletic equipment manager, providing him with a well-rounded understanding of athletic department operations. Known for his motivational leadership style, attention to detail, and commitment to athlete success, Juan is dedicated to building competitive programs that emphasize accountability, development, and long-term growth.
